Alan (Vincent Lindon) is middle-aged and has achieved almost nothing in life except for a few years in prison. Just out of jail and broke, he has no choice but to return to his mother. His elderly mother, Yvonne (Hélène Vincent), naturally has a hard time with her disappointing son, and their conflicts escalate.
